Pssss...don't let the hardcore folks here know our little secret...that four deadheads got together and not only admitted to going to DSO shows, but enjoyed them :D

It was great to meet all of you, and yeah, we do need to do it again soon. I don't think I'll be doing RRE, but hey, I'm always up for a tasty beer!

For the record, Elbow does not do DSO ( at least to my knowledge).

True, I have never seen DSO, although i have no moral objections about seeing them. If I go to concerts I prefer seeing newer bands doing original music like RRE or Yarn. I use my GD spending money on CDs and memory to store shows. The only thing I have ever questioned was listening to or downloading DSO from here. Unless you were at the concert and wanted to keep a copy as a remembrance of the show, i have no idea why one would bother when you can listen to the real McCoy.

I am in agreement about the archive listening or downloading DSO with the exceptions you mentioned. I have not heard the new guitarist, but the consensus at Twain's appears that he is doing a fine job and a DSO show can make for some fun.

As far as RRE this February, that's my birthday weekend. The missus is going to pass on the show, so it may be my boys night out present. There's a more remote chance I shall be allowed to go skiing that weekend. Low budget, east coast skiing mind you, but I'll take what I can get. At present that would be the only thing preventing me from planning on RRE on 2/4 at Variety Playhouse.

I like the new guitarist for DSO. He was with Donna Jean and the Tricksters and I did listen to a few of those shows before he moved on to DSO. I thought he was very good.

Nothing yet on the schedule for that weekend.

I've been to a decent amount of DSO shows throughout their existence. Jeff Mattson, the new guitarist, is a better fit imo than JK was. JK had some excellent moments through his tenure with the band, but Mattson brings a spark to the band, that i felt was sometimes lacking with the older lineup. I find the shows to have more kick and excitement and they used to.

I agree that it's a complete waste of time to listen to DSO once the show is over, unless you just want to relive the memories you had. However, they are worth seeing live. More so than Furthur imo. Jeff Mattson does some very nice acoustic numbers sometimes as well.
